Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page- "Marc's Kilimanjaro Climb for Prostate Cancer July 2010"
I wanted to let you all know that, after 6 days of trekking I, together with 14 colleagues from CVC, reached Uhuru, Kilimanjaro’s 5,895m summit in time for sun rise on Saturday morning 3 July to the sound of two pipers in our team! It was a gruelling trip and on summit day we walked for 23hrs out of 34hrs, across 36km of mixed terrain ascending from 3,972m to 5,895m before descending to at 3,300m. Apparently it is a very rare event to have a 100% success rate, and was a first for our guide who puts it down to teamwork, preparation and sheer determination. This expedition has enabled us collectively to raise over US$1m for the benefit of 19 different charities, including my chosen charity, Prostate UK. I am fortunate in that every £ that I raise is matched 50% by CVC- which is not included on the site..!!! I would like to thank each of you for your financial support and encouragement. This has been an amazing journey that in simple terms shows what can be achieved with a vision, teamwork, fabulous support (from family, friends and expedition organisers), determination and an appropriate level of physical preparation..... Carpe Diem Thank you so much, Marc
