Story
I've set myself a few goals in 2015 and one of them was to run this years race and raise some money for this marvellous charity.
My nephew, Craig was born at St Mary's Hospital as he was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia whilst still in the womb. He was only given a 50/50 chance of surviving the birth and he would have to have a tricky operation after being born to move his intestines back into his stomach and then move his heart back into its normal place. Again he was given 50/50 chance of living through the operation. It was suspected he'd have limited lung capacity for his life as one of his lungs had not been able to grow as normal due to all the other organs that had breached into his chest.
Craig not only survived the birth but also the operation about a week later. He has had some scary moments over the past few years due to his predicament but it's testiment to all the hard effort and support from all the staff at St Mary's and other North West hospitals who continue to assist him with his medical needs that he's still here today. In September 2014 Craig started Primary school and continues to surprise us all how much a fighter he is.
