Story

Not wishing to turn down a team challenge, we thought we'd have a bash at swimming the English Channel.

Our relay team is made up of Reconstructive Surgeons and Surgical Trainees from our hospital department. Hence, we are all varied in our strength, style and approach; but united in our willingness to get to France !!

Luckily, we now laugh in the face of danger, cold water AND the dark. So, with our 2-hour practice swims behind us, we face our forthcoming departure from Dover with a mixture of excitement and trepidation!

Throughout this challenge we are raising funds for the research activites within our Department of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at Oxford. This research covers our work into melanoma, genetics and hand surgery: areas very central to our practice.

We would be grateful for any support you can give to our efforts; and please remember that wetsuits are NOT permitted!
