24 Hour Rounders · 1 September 2016

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

From 5pm on Thursday 1st September I will be taking part in 24-hour Rounders marathon being held at the Nationwide Pavilion.

Now, any of you who have seen me play cricket will know that my normal limit for running around (or just standing up for that matter…) is about 90 minutes, after which I am beetroot-red and on my knees praying for the day I finally get my career-ending injury. I’m also EXTREMELY scared of the ball and to my dismay it turns out a proper rounders ball isn’t a tennis ball.

But, needless to say, I’m not just doing this for the larks, but to raise money for a charity very dear to my heart, Macmillan Cancer Support. They provide unparalleled support to people with cancer, and their families, and were an enormous comfort to my Mum and Dad when he passed away in 2006.

They are magnificent, and only exist thanks to charitable donations. You can find out more about the work they do, here. www.macmillan.org.uk

Please help me to stay on my feet by supporting in any way you can. It would be great to see you in person at the Pavilion (address below) any time between 5pm on Thursday 1st September and 5pm Friday 2nd September (there will be ‘refreshments’ available, with all proceeds split between Macmillan and Shelter) and/or I would be pathetically grateful for any donations.
