Palace to Palace 2017 · 1 October 2017 ·

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the 2017 Palace to Palace Cycle ride.

In January 2017, I was knocked off my bicycle, breaking my pelvis and some ribs.  I was very sore, but determined this accident was not going to be the end of my cycling.  Thanks to working on a stationary bicycle at the gym (I was able to pedal long before I could walk without crutches), more work in the swimming pool and not least of all the help and support of my physio, Karen, I was able to get back on a road bicycle for the first time, some 3 months later. Thus my riding the Palace to Palace is a small celebration of being able to get back to my bicycle, and regain the strength & fitness lost through those injuries.

We are riding the 2017 Palace to Palace (that's Buckingham Palace to Windsor Palace ... tea with the Queen, and all that) to raise money for The Princes Trust who help disadvantaged young people in the UK, change their lives and get into work, education or training to get a better start in their young lives.

This is an enjoyable  and good natured ride with excellent spectator support.

Not only do we intend riding the Palace to Palace but we will then to ride back to Reading after the main ride and add a few bonus miles - just because we can !

This year, the Trust aims to support 58,000 vulnerable young people,
helping to give them the skills and confidence to find a job.
