Story
Thank you for coming to my page and supporting me on this 'Wild Challenge'
I think I must have been delirious when I was first approached to sign up for this bike ride, as I foolishly said ‘yes'. To those of you who know me well, you will definitely think I have lost my marbles (and maybe you’re right).
Anyway I have decided to stick with this 'epic journey' of cycling 300 miles in 4 days – I thought....... well.... it’s a major goal to achieve in my life and hopefully by the end, and with all the training I do, I will have firm thighs and ‘buns’ of steel!!
My story so far………….The Training!………. This has not gone quite as planned, as in, I haven’t really done any – I could make a million excuses and honestly they are genuine, but this means that my 300 miles is going to seem like 600, so really this bike ride is even more of a challenge., so thank you again for giving me your support – every penny of your donation will help keep the canals alive for another 200 years, and could help Canal & River Trust to build otter holts, house hedgehogs and lots of other exciting projects.
Today (8 July) my good friend Mark Illingworth decided to help with my training. I wanted to do about 30 miles! It started off very well, it was warm, the sun was shining I was feeling positive……..but that’s as good as it got. Mark decided I needed to do hills!!! I could feel my lungs exploding out of my chest as I gasped for air – the upshot of this training is that I did 24 miles which I thought was excellent. Photo showing me stopping for coffee and cake to replenish the thousands of calories I must have burned!! I will keep you all posted on my next big training day, which is going to be 68 miles on Sunday 15 July (if I make it back alive). So please keep returning to my page so you can feel the pain with me through my photo’s.
