‘We’re trekking to the top of the highest mountain in North Africa in October’ they said. ‘Come along, it will be fun’ they said.
I said yes and now have under 3 weeks to go until this little adventure to reach the summit of Mount Toubkal which is the highest mountain in the Atlas mountains of Morocco (and the highest mountain in North Africa at 4167m).
Many have asked ‘what height do you start at?’,’ just how difficult will it be….really?’ and told me ‘you should raise money for charity’
So – I thought I had better find out a little bit more about this challenge (why didn’t I do that before I booked my flight?!). I am now thinking it may not be a walk in the park ;-)
FACTS
Starting height: 1740m. -------Well at least it’s not sea level.
Summit: 4167m. --------Ooo that’s quite high isn’t it?Time to complete: 3 days
But who’s going to carry my bag?-------- There are mules, a chef and guides. Brilliant!, that sounds almost like luxury.Training completed so far: 3 peak attempt (we only did 2 because Snowdon was closed! – oops). Multiple trips to Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia, Pubs in Hampshire and 26 mile Chiltern marathon last weekend (hence the flip-flops on Weds!).
