My story
Maria Balshaw, Director of Whitworth Art Gallery, is competing in not one, but three Triathlons this summer to raise money to expand the gallery and reconnect it to its lovely park. She will be doing these at Capesthone Hall on 10th June,on the Isle of Bute on 8th August and at Tatton Park on 9th September. The money Maria raises through sponsorship will go towards fitting out the Learning Studio and Collections Access Zone, which will benefit all our visitors for many years to come.
A Triathlon involves a 1500m outdoor swim (Maria hates this bit!), 40km cycle and a 10km run. You can support Maria in this extraordinary feat by sponsoring her here! Every pound you donate and every painful metre of swim, cycle, run Maria completes will go towards making the Whitworth fit for the 21st century.

I'm watching the Brownlee brothers do their Olympic triathlon and feeling a bit sick. They go so fast. Only thing we have in common is that we do the same distance! I'm looking for lots of sympahy sponsorship as I have a knee injury - give pounds for the Whitworth to compensate!
It's two days to go to my first triathlon and despite being mad busy opening We Face Forward training has gone well. I know the cycle and run will be fine - but the swimming is still woeful. One more practice today in the chilly waters off Bute! Wish me luck everyone.
