A group of us are doing the Great River Race to raise money for Tall Ship Youth Trust. The reason I am doing this is because i have all recently returned from spending just over two weeks as volunteer crew on a 1600 mile, trans-Atlantic sailing trip with a charity called the Tall Ships Youth Trust.    Using a combination of the unpredictable sea, unfamiliar communal environment and experienced permanent crew the Trust's sail training vessels provide the perfect environment for effective personal development. They take over 3, 500 people on their voyages every year and the vast majority are heavily subsidised to allow young people from under-privileged backgrounds to have the amazing experiences that come from being in the middle of an ocean, hundreds of miles from land, with dozens of people they may never have met. The Trust also has a network of volunteer groups across the UK that assists young people with fundraising and the allocation of bursaries to literally allow them to get on board. Over the 16 day voyage we all realised how developmental the experience was and the potential it had with young people, hence why I have decided to enter the Great River Race to help Tall Ships Youth Trust to continue their work.      Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
