Story
Hello,
On 26th September 2014 I will be taking part in the Total Gas & Power South Downs Charity Trek Challenge for which I will complete a Marathon 26.2 mile Trek across rolling hills and undulating terrain.
I have chosen to take part in this event in order to raise awareness and money to support sufferers of Muscular Dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is the name given to a group of neuromuscular disorders that cause progressive and irreversible weakness and wasting of the muscles. There are more than 30 different types of muscular dystrophy. They are genetic conditions, which means that they are caused by an alteration within the genetic makeup. Each of the approximately 30 muscular dystrophy diseases has a separate cause, and there is no cure.
I have selected this charity in honour of two of my Aunts, Anne and Mary, who suffer from Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. This disease most severely affects the muscles in the hips and shoulders and also weakens the muscles in the legs and arms leading to wheelchair dependency.
Please help me to raise as much money as possible for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Money raised helps to fund essential research and clinical trials for treatments to ease the suffering of those who are affected by a muscle wasting disease.
Thank you for your support.
Marie :-)
