My story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the London Marathon in April this year for Kith and Kids, a charity which supports young people with learning disabilities and their families. I have supported and volunteered with Kith and Kids for many years because I believe the work they do for people is pioneering.
Here's why:
Kith & Kids’ aim is to empower families who have a son or daughter with a learning disability or autism (many also have a physical or sensory disability) to overcome their social exclusion.
Throughout the year they provide a variety of volunteer-supported projects and services, offering opportunities to learn new skills, make friends, go out and have fun. The person with a disability being the focus of their activities, they design individual needs based projects and services that provide him or her with much needed social interaction and a sense of “normal” life that most of us take for granted.
Kith and Kids offers a Family Support Service helping parents and siblings by introducing them to other parents and siblings as well as providing individual support. Their Outreach Service provides information, support and training to families, carers and organisations throughout the UK.
Kith & Kids also offers quality training to hundreds of volunteers throughout the year who support their projects and provide a vital link between our participants and the wider community.
