He's currently undergoing treatment and a few of us decided that for a laugh we would turn up at his house for a planned boys weekend at the end of the month with shaved heads. This conversation escalated to the accusation that seeing as I was already follicly challenged it would be no hardship for me. I was then invited to stick my chin out and agree to shave off the beard I have hidden behind for 35 years !!

I've always been too stupid to resist a dare so here I am, offering to shave my head beard and eyebrows as an encouragement to family, strangers. friends and work colleagues to donate money to a good cause.

I am travelling down to visit Steve for a weekend at the end of November. I intend arriving at his home smooth and shaved for his enjoyment, I fully intend not shaving again over the weekend so this is a one shot event.

Here we have the unfortunate cooincidence which particularly encouraged me to make this a charitable event rather than just a bit of fun. The day I am travelling to visit him I am attending a management conference in work. I must therefore spend the day with my management peers, Directors and Chief Exec in a state of chilling (on so many levels) embarrasment. It is to be hoped that they will see the brave stupidity of it all and donate too.

So please support Cancer Research, give me a break and not laugh too loudly, but most importantly give honour to my brave friend Steve Royal and his lovely wife and children. He's the one who deserves respect I'm just the beardy bloke who is daft enough to stick his head out. The shave will be conducted by my despairing wife Michelle on Wednesday 28th November ready for my "big day" on the Thursday, but please keep donating after this date as I will be posting photos to prove I have a chin.
