Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of disease. Our research includes cancer, Parkinson's and other diseases and could save millions of lives by improving diagnostics. We already help people manage complex, life-threatening medical conditions by training Medical Alert Dogs.

Story

The locally based Great Horwood charity, Medical Detection Dogs, relies totally on public support and donations to fund groundbreaking research and help to train dogs to detect life threatening conditions. The charity focuses on two main areas: Medical Alert Assistance dogs are trained to assist individuals who manage complex health conditions, giving them greater independence and saving public money through dramatically reduced paramedic call outs. Our Cancer Detection dogs are significantly advancing the research into the early diagnosis of cancers through cheap non-invasive tests. Speeding up screening processes, particularly of cancers that are difficult to diagnose, will improve the prognosis for thousands of patients. Saving lives on a daily basis. Please visit www.medicaldetectiondogs.org.uk to learn more about their amazing work.
