Story

On March 25th I'm running the Hastings Half Marathon to raise funds for the Macular Disease Society. It's my first half marathon and I've bene training since Christmas to prepare myself for the big day! I'm not sure I've discovered my life's calling as an athelete - and I was mortified to find myself running in the 'veterans' section -but its been fun to get fit.

But more importantly it's been about raising money for the Macular Disease Society. Macular Disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK and affects an increasingly large number of older people. I know as my Dad has it and he very scarily started to rapidly lose his central vision last year. The Macular Disease Society - which supports research into the disease and supports those with it - were a very valuable source of support and advice to my Dad. Happily his treatment (injections straight into the eyes - ouch!) seems to have slowed the progression for him. So as I'll be pounding the streets of Hastings (uphill for the first seven miles) my Dad and doing somethimg to support the Macular Disease Society will keep me going.

Please do all you can to support the Macular Disease Society by sponsoring me.
