We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Fleet Half Marathon to raise money for Leukaemia Research as it is a charity that has always been dear to my heart.  I hope to raise in excess of £500 through doing the event.

24,500 people are diagnosed with a cancer of the blood every year.  Leukaemia is the most common form of cancer in children in the UK and blood cancers are the main cause of cancer deaths in the under 35s although anyone can be diagnosed at any age.

£50 can buy special chemicals needed to identify blood cancer cells on a cell seperating and analysis machine.

£200 can buy 20 kits to extract DNA from blood samples to see if there are any genetic faults and help diagnose cancers more effectively.

£600 could pay for an MRD (Minimal Residual Disease) test, which checks whether a patient with leukaemia is responding to treatment and helps the doctor decide if it needs to be intensified or decreased.

Any amount of money, large or small, will help pay for any of the above and also help research into hopefully finding a cure as soon as possible.  Over £20 million is spent on this research every year and through this survival rates are increasing.

So please dig deep and donate, let us "Help us see the back of Leukaemia" NOW.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
