Hi everyone,

Just to give you all one final update, I completed the 3.8km swim this Sunday at Box End Lake in 1 hour 3 minutes which i was pleasantly surprised with! Apart from the weeds and stupid hat wearing, it was a fantastic experience in aid of a very worth cause. As i have said before, whilst i acknowledge its no marathon feat, I hope my overall efforts have justified the money I have raised for a fantastic cause.

I am now making my final collections of sponsorship money so if you would like to sponsor me, please visit my sponsorship website:

Thanks again to everyone who have supported me along the way, i really do appreciate it.

Mark

Hi everyone, good news!

As some of you may already have known, due to a persistent knee injury I was forced to pull out of my initial fund raising event, the Chester Marathon. However, the injury has not prevented me from keeping fit by swimming. So on the 6th of June i plan to swim the 3.8km Aquashphere Box End Open Swimming race, which is basically a race in a cold, mucky lake! Whilst I am aware that this task is may not (big emphasis on may!!) be as demanding as a full marathon, this provides me with the opportunity to justify the sponsorship I have already received and hopefully raise a bit more cash for a wonderful cause.

Please see below for more information on who for and why I am raising money. Also if you would like more information on my new fund raising event, please follow the link below:

Thanks again everyone

Greetings all,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to visit my sponsorship page. As you may already know, on the 31 of May I am running the Chester Marathon in aid of the Barton Scouts with the aim of raising as much money as possible for their new HQ for which they have been raising money for the previous 647 years (approximately).

I was involved with the Barton Scouts as a whole from the age of 7 to 14 and truly believe that my experiences there helped shape the person that I am today and certainly had a profound  influence on my current choice of occupation and career path! Each individual involved with the running of the Barton Scouts is a volunteer and they all make huge personal sacrifices to provide young people in Barton with the same opportunities that I had.

As I have insinuated, the group have been organising and partaking in fundraising events for some years now, even dating back to when I was part of the group. However, the new HQ is now in the first stages of construction and it promises to be a fantastic facility that will benefit not only the Scouts and Guides of Barton but also the local community in turn giving young people of Barton the same opportunities that I had.

Whilst the construction process is fully under way the Group are in desperate need of further funding if the site is to become usable any time soon. I feel indebted to the Barton Scouts and the individuals who created the wonderful opportunities and experiences I had so please do sponsor me as much or as little as you can.

If you would like to know in depth information about the New HQ then visit their website via the link below.
