We are joining the BNP Paribas cycle challenge on Wednesday 27 September - a 46 mile ride from London to Oxford.
The event is to raise funds for a good cause - the Helen & Douglas House Children's Hospice in Oxford. Douglas House opened in 2004 and is still the only UK hospice specifically for teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 35. The House prioneers the highest level of specialist care, offering medically supported short breaks, emergency care and end-of-life care. It costs over £4.5 million a year to run the two Hospice houses. With no guaranteed Government funding, Helen & Douglas House must raise 80% of this. £3.6 million, every year. If they fail, beds will close and terminally ill children, young adults and their families will lose their lifeline of support.
