I am taking part in a dragonboat race on 15th July to raise money for Beating Bowel Cancer. This is a charity very close to my heart as my dad was diagnosed with the disease in 2010, much to the whole family's shock and horror. He is, however, living proof that with early treatment and great support, bowel cancer can be beaten and he has now been given the all clear.

We all get a little squeamish about anything referring to bums, bowels etc, but the good news is that bowel cancer can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases, if it is diagnosed at an early stage, before it has had a chance to grow and spread. So get over your embarrassment, support this great cause and help us to raise awareness so that we can continue to beat this disease.

To keep you all updated, the race was postponed yesterday due to the recent rain we have been having resulting in the Environment Agency deeming the river unsafe. I will keep this page updated with news of the rescheduled date, hopefully September.
