Brighton Marathon 2016 · 17 April 2016 ·

1 in 100 people have coeliac disease, yet only 36% are diagnosed. Coeliac UK empowers everyone affected, breaking down barriers, improving everyday life, offering trusted support and advancing research towards a cure. And we do it all so that one day, no one’s life will be limited by gluten.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  As many of you reading this will know Megan was diagnosed with coeliac disease when she was just 1 years old after about 5months of severe internal pain, daily vomiting and loosing so much weight she was noted by the medical team as 'failing to thrive'.  Despite that Megan was lucky, her diagnosis was quick compared to many because as a family we had experience of the disease and could push it through, 500,000 other people in the UK are not so fortunate.  I hope that by raising money we will be able to educate people (particularly parents) about the symptoms and improve diagnosis techniques and speeds.

I started running again 18months ago to start raising money for Coeliac UK after a decade of eating too much chocolate, drinking too much wine and being generally lazy..  After two Great South Runs the next big one is a marathon so I delighted that I have got into the Brighton Marathon in the Coeliac UK Team.  This is the first marathon I have run but training is going well and I'm determined to beat Endomono's prediction of 3hrs 40mins and do it in less than 3hrs 30mins.
