Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Diabetes is a common life-long health condition. There are 2.5 million people with around 500, 000 who have the condition & not know it, in the UK. I certainly didn't know I had it when diagnosed in November 2010.

I had just gone for a routine, 5 yearly, medical which was required for my job (taxi driver), I was originally treated with diet only & then shortly after the new year my condition worsened & on 19th January was put onto insulin injections (4 per day) & I now have to test my blood sugar levels 6 times minimum per day as well!

I am one of the lucky one's, as when I have read what some of the complications that can come with this condition, it has made me realise that we need to make people aware of it & fund much needeed research into it.

Hopefully one day there will be a day when a cure can be found for this health condition, but in the meantime I want to raise awareness for this condition, so please help me & everyone else who suffers with diabetes & not forgetting those who may have it as well, by supporting me in my abseil. (I do have a fear of heights as well!!!!)

Sunday 5th June 2011 at Leeds Met.
