Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Royal School for the Blind in Liverpool has a tremendous history in the city of Liverpool, however times have changed and the school, which is a non maintained special school and a totally independent charity, now caters for up to 66 children ranging in age from 2 – 19 years with not only visual impairment but who also have significant special educational needs from moderate to profound including multi-sensory impairment, physical or behavioral disabilities.
My name is Mark Johnson, Catering Manager(for Taylor Shaw) at the Royal School for the Blind. On April 26th 2014 I am delighted to have sucessfully organised my second Black Tie Gala Dinner and will donate all the proceeds of the evening to the School.
I have been very overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of all the people and local businesses for their support and donations to hopefully make this a huge success enabling us to make this an annual event.
Recently the school was determined by OFSTED to be “outstanding in all areas. Mr Joe Byrne, Head Teacher of the school, was awarded the OBE for his contribution to education.
Because the school is non-maintained they have to raise their own money to provide the children with any extras such as a wheelchair accessible garden and wheelchair accessible playground. Such specialised multi-sensory play equipment/resources costs a lot of money so anything we can do to help enrich the education and lives of these very special children will be a fantastic achievement.
Once again thanks to everybody that have come together to raise funds for the school. Best wishes Mark & Shaun
