Norwood supports and empowers neurodiverse children, their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.

Story

In 2000 I (Mark) was successful in summiting Kilimanjaro the highest peak in Africa, although 50% of our group did not manage to get to the summit. On returning home, my daughter Charlotte said she would like to do it. Jokingly I said when all your studies are over, maybe....

Ten years later, at the age of 24 (she is now a teacher) the previous jest has become a reality. In August a small group of fathers with their children will be attempting to conquer Kilimanjaro.

This is not a charitable event and I am covering all the costs, I fear that it would be remiss of me not to use the opportunity to raise money for charity. Charlotte and I have decided that we will raise money for a UK charity being Norwood and an overseas charity being Msaada.

Norwood - Many people suffer from various handicaps but we are probably not aware of the effects that a severe mental, physical handicap and child abuse has on individuals for the rest of their lives. These conditions are not discriminatory with regard to race, wealth or religion. It can happen to anyone and when it does our expectations is that someone takes care of the problem. Norwood does exactly that, but no matter how much Government funding it receives it is never enough to ensure that the residents of Norwood have a better quality of life.

Msaada - Msaada is a UK charity that helps widows and orphans following the 1994 Rwandan genocide. During  the ethnic cleansing in Rwanda, over a million lives were taken in under 100 days. The western world turned its back on Rwanda and very little international aid was given. Msaada is a small charity that provides education where there is no state education and basic needs such as a roof over someone's head.

We understand that it is a liberty  to continually ask for your support, however, giving is much easier than asking and we don't ask you won't give and the residents of Norwood and the widows and orphans of Rwanda will suffer.
