My story

A group of 10 fools have stupidly entered an epic 12 mile special-forces-organised assault course. This includes 25 mental obstacles such as crawling through mud, barbed wire and stinging nettles, running through fire, 15ft jumps into ice water, 12ft high wall climbs and running through a field of hanging wires carrying 10,000 volt electric shocks.

Have a look at the website here to see just what we're letting ourselves in for: www.toughmudder.co.uk or watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh5HdPM_QuE#mce_temp_url# . We'll be training hard over the next few months to risk life and limb on 12th May 2012 at the Boughton House event. It's not going to be easy. Our entrance fees of £80 already go to a great cause (Help for Heroes) but I wanted to raise money for something a little different.

Here's where the sob story comes in - My Grandad, Jeff Redding has been living with Motor Neurone Disease for the last few years. It's a degenerative disease that leads to muscle wastage, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. It has noticeably taken effect. There is currently no cure for MND but the Motor Neurone Disease Association strives to help find one and also ensure sufferers can remain dignified as the disease takes hold. After years of him proudly leading the family, I wanted to do something to help support him too.

Here's the 'hardcore' elite team list:

Mark Redding, Gareth Bartley, Simon Mark Bartley, Eric Pratt, Alex Frost, Gareth Haigh, Nige Evans, Anton Chernousenko, Chris Locke-Wheaton and Luke Chiverton.

There's no guarantee we'll all actually survive this so it'd be great if you could donate to make it worthwhile..

Oh and make sure you tick the Gift Aid box!

Many Thanks,

A team of fools..

Motor Neurone Disease Association

Charity Registration No. 294354

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is the only national organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to the support of people with MND and those who care for them. Our mission is to fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND. Until then we will do all that we can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity. We will also do all that we can to support the families and carers of people with MND. Our vision is of a world free of MND.
