Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

"Together for Short Lives" is a great charity that is the merger of two separate charities and strong causes, Children's Hospice UK & ACT.

Hearing the news that your child has a health condition that is life-threatening or that will shorten their life can only be devastating. Families feeling isolated, loneliness and grief; when it is a time for support and care.

Sadly there are over 23,500 children and young people across the UK who are unlikely to reach adulthood.

"Together for Short Lives" can help ensure that all these children and families get the best possible care and support wherever and whenever they need it. Every penny raised will make a lifetime of difference to these children and families.

For this charity I intend to join a group of colleagues to complete the Lyke Wake Walk in June 2012.

Started in the mid 50's, a farmer claimed you could walk from Scarth Wood Morr to Ravenscar, North Yorkshire Moors, on heather all the way except to cross only 1 or 2 roads; all in 24 hours. A distance of approximately 40miles, I say approximately because there is no set route, map reading and navigation is required.

Some will perhaps say that is simple enough, but we are starting at Midnight. Again this may not seem too much of an issue, but in true BPT style...this is all going to be happening after a full day at work without going home for a Power Nap first. So that's got to be worth a couple quid hasn’t it?

Donations and Sponsorship will be most gratefully received, but raising awareness of this charity is also important.

On a separate note, some of my colleagues are doing this for Breast Cancer UK, another very strong and worthy Charity. I would champion it myself, but this site will only let me select one.

Again, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I will try to post updates on the build up and during the event. Afterwards might be a bit difficult, as I have been told I will be first to be sacrificed should we get chased by evil predators hungry for man flesh.
