AND AN 80 MILE WALK IN WALES FOLLOWING THE SOUTHERN OFFA'S DYKE NATIONAL TRAIL!!!
Starting in Chepstow, Wales on 7th May 2011 and covering 80 miles as far as Knighton, this will be a remarkably varied and scenic walk, up the wooded and dramatic Wye Valley past the ruins of Tintern Abbey, skirting the Black Mountains to the bookshop town of Hay-on-Wye, and then cresting the sweep of Hergest Ridge.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided to walk this route in memory of my Dad who recently passed away following a long illness that was borne with much dignity, courage and humour.
For all those family and friends who all knew him so well, I'm sure you will all agree how much he loved his "PINT!"
By completing this long-distance walk, not only will it be an achievement for myself and something my Dad would have been proud of, it will also give me the opportunity to sample a few "PINTS" in his memory along the way!!
I have my accomodation all booked, and a couple of notable stays are the Baskerville Hall Hotel in Hay-on-Wye, built in 1839, steeped in history, and yes, the author of The Hound of the Baskervilles, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a regular visitor and was much inspired by this creepy location and of its local legend!!
And of the second notable stay, I have a night booked in at the Royal Oak!! No, not the one my Mother & Father and their Friends always used to frequent. This one is in a town called Kington. Probably not a £1.00 a pint, nor a pint of Mild, but I'm sure the first thing my Dad would say is "how much?"
I've chosen St. Andrews Hospice in Grimsby to fundraise, as this is where my Dad spent some of his time in Respite Care and also for a short time at the Day Unit. They provide care for adults and children, who have a progressive life limiting illness and who require palliative treatment. They really do "make each day count!"
They need to raise £2.5million to fund the hospice, of which 78p in every £1.00 is spent on patient care. For more information please visit www.standrewshospice.com
