Story
Living well with secondary breast cancer...
My wife Rebekah was just six weeks pregnant with her third child when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. Whilst pregnant she underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy after the baby was born. Since 2012 she has been having ongoing treatment for secondary cancer in her spine, lung and brain.
Drugs and treatment from cancer research has definitely kept her alive.
In 2016 Rebekah produced a book of poems inspired by her walk with breast cancer and her family. She also started to talk publicly about her journey. Two years later, whilst struggling with multiple brain tumors, Rebekah published her auto-biography "Dying to Live" - a moving story, a powerful love letter to her children; it is also full of humour and gives an insight into how to deal with the challenges that life sometimes throws at us.
