Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Those of you who know me will realise that running a half-marathon is not a pursuit that I usually indulge in. In fact driving 13 miles brings me out in a sweat.

So why am I doing this? Well a couple of reasons really... I want to lose some weight before I get married next year, and as the thought of living off lettuce and carrot sticks is unappealing, the only real alternative is to do some exercise. I also want to try and get a bit fitter as I'm certainly not getting any younger, so again starting to do some exercise seems to be a good idea.

So as I'm doing this, I thought why not raise some cash for charity at the same time! If, I'm being sponsored then hopefully the chances of me giving up after a week and heading back to the sofa with a plate of chips are reduced.

Why a Bowel Cancer Charity? Well, my fiancee's mum suffered from Bowel Cancer while she was still very young, and if it wasn't for charities like this raising awareness, then she may not be here with us today, and as far as mother-in-law's go, she's pretty good! I also know others who have been affected by this and haven't been so lucky.

Anyway, dig deep and sponsor me, if only to guilt me into doing the thing! I'll be sure to post pictures of me after the run for you all to have a good laugh at. I'll also try and give updates on my progress leading up to the big day, but I can't promise as I'm sure I'll be knackered from all the running
