Story
On 9th September (postponed from 12th August) I am taking part in the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Big Swim 2012 in Weston-super-Mare. The swim is from the end of Brean Down across Weston Bay to Anchor Head - a distance of about 2.2 miles. This will be quite a challenge in the strong tidal waters of the River Severn but I am training hard and looking forward to raising money for such a worthy cause.
My family has a long association with Weston Lifeboat: my late father was the local RNLI treasurer for many years and three of my brothers were crewmembers. I used to help launch and recover the lifeboats and generally help out where and when I could. The RNLI family association continues as my eldest brother in now the station operations manager at Littlehampton in West Sussex.
As I was born and grew up in Weston it is very appropriate that I am doing a fundraising event for a cause very close to my heart. Any donation you see fit will be much appreciated by myself but, more importantly, by the RNLI.
Thank you very much !!
