Over ten years ago my fiancé Christine was diagnosed with a rare type of soft tissue Sarcoma in her leg. This resulted in an operation, lots of worry (by me), yearly visits for scans and x-rays and months’ worth of daily visits to Clatterbridge for radiation therapy. Macmillan supported Chris in what could have been a most distressing time as this was a rare form of cancer with little other support to draw on. Macmillan made good on their mission statement that no-one should face cancer alone. I for one, would like to return the compliment for the support what they gave to us.

It's my hope that the ups and downs of her journey are symbolically echoed as I and the people with me, go up and down over three of Yorkshire's finest, with over five thousand feet of ascent and twenty four and a half miles. Just to add a bit of spice to the walk, I’m doing it the wrong way round and have that wonderful fall off Ingleborough and that slog up Whernside to eagerly anticipate!
