Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
For those that are close to me you’ll know that my love of running over the last couple of years has driven me to want to complete my first marathon.
If you want to see what I’ve been up to or want to follow my journey head over to www.instagram.com/mark_woodley
I’ve now run many other races (mostly half marathons, 10 miles or 10k) but am yet to complete the 26.2 distance!
I was blown away when I managed to get a ballot space in the London Marathon and whilst I don’t need to raise money for charity to support my entry I want to use this as an amazing opportunity to support two great causes and raise as much money as I can.
The two charities I want to support are JDRF and Lympoma Action.
Both charities have great meaning to me with my mum being in complete remisson following a battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and my sons football team mate being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
A short time ago Callum the team captain of Netley Royals FC under 12’s was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. His world and that of his family, was turned upside down overnight.
Despite the obvious struggles and challenges, he has maintained such a positive attitude with the help of his wonderful family, friends and team mates.
Whilst I cannot imagine the impact of this for him and his family I’m blown away by his positive attitude that he shows week in week out which is very visible in his leadership of the boys in the team.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Type 1 diabetes affects over 29,000 children in the UK with incidents increasing by 4% each year, particularly in children under 5. This disease can affect any child at any age and as yet there is no cure. This is why it is so important to raise funds so that the research into prevention and cure can continue.
