Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

The Golden Lion Children's Trust was formed in 1973 to bring some hope help and happiness into the lives of underprivileged children and children with special needs.

Story

On several occasions with West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service I worked with  the Golden Lion Children’s Trust and saw first- hand the positive effect their work has on the young people and families they support.

They organise events and days out that disabled and disadvantaged children would otherwise never have the opportunity to try.

Having joined London Fire Brigade and been given the chance to run the London Marathon, I wanted to take this opportunity to support the Trust and do my bit to raise some money in order to give the kids a special weekend to remember.

We will be taking groups of children on residential activity weekends where they can participate and learn about skiing, rock climbing, canoeing, orienteering and also, learn how to work as a team. The activities are organised so that all children are able to take part.

Running the London Marathon will be a great experience for me but please help me to make it an even greater experience for some very underprivileged children supported by the Golden Lion Children’s Trust.

 Thank you
