ACE Kilimanjaro Climb · 18 September 2009

Ace Africa believes in building sustainable futures for children and their communities in rural Tanzania and Kenya. We do this through improved food and economic security, health, well-being and rights awareness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In September of this year, I will be climbing Africa's highest mountain in aid of ACE Africa, a charity working in Kenya and Tanzania with orphans and children in communities affected by AIDS. Please dig deep and sponsor me!

Standing at 5,896m, Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the earth's crust and is among the highest freestanding mountains in the world. It is the largest mountain that non-technical climbers can tackle; the altitude and low temperature (dropping to -22 degrees overnight) make this a difficult and dangerous trek. The breathable oxygen at the top is less than half the amount than is common at sea level, and we will cover at least eighty kilometres on nothing but my own two feet over the seven days it will take to reach the top and return!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks!

Mark
