Story

Hi there,

I've got into the habit of running the Brighton marathon each year to raise money for the RNLI. This year I've managed to bag a place in the London marathon too. Great! Unfortunately they're only a week apart, so I'll be running both.

Currently my training is going very badly as I've strained my left calf muscle and cannot even run a mile without limping home. I've only got two months left to be at marathon level - I haven't really kept the training up since last year - so it's going to be a close run thing (hawhawhaw!). You can follow my training on my blog here: dislocated.blogspot.com.

The RNLI are a charity who rescue people at sea. Nine out of ten of those that actually go out in the boats get paid nothing. They rely on excellent training and rock solid kit. I've sailed myself and I've been in some pretty foul weather and on occassionally I've come out of the harbour entrance and chosen to turn round and go straight back in again. The crews go out in any conditions and will not turn back until they've done the job.

So running a marathon, comparitively, is pretty easy. It takes me just under five hours a shot. I've only got two to do with a week between then. Can't be that hard, can it?

Thanks for anything you can give, even if it's only a few quid. Don't forget to tick the gift-aid button, if it applies. Thanks,
