2010 Edinburgh Marathon · 23 May 2010 ·

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects over 400,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

I'm not a saint or a regular charity donator, in fact when I first told people that I was going to run the Edinburgh Marathon, they often said who are you running for, and my answer was "for myself" as I simply wanted to get fit.

After a few weeks of training, I spoke to Rob on the phone immediately after Leeds played Spurs in the FA cup (I'd been at the match with Rob's Dad, Rob of course was unable to attend...just one of many thousands of everyday things that ME stops you from being able to do), Rob asked if I would run the marathon in support of ME Research UK. So I ditched my stance of selfishness and am now going to do this a well as I can.

You will see that I have set myself a target of £2500, which now suddenly seems like an awful lot of money, so I will need your help. Firstly I need your help in the form of a donation, Secondly please help publicise my appeal, why not send a link to this page to anybody and everybody in your address book/friends list, we all get plenty of unsolicited messages, maybe sending a few of your own will give you a strange sense of retribution, please try it...

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
