Alzheimer's Society - Enduro Challenge 2010 · 27 August 2010 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Enduro Challenge is a relay race from London to Paris. The race involves running from London to Dover, swimming across the English Channel and finally cycling from Calais to Paris. In August this year, 6 fit, committed and daring people from Credit Suisse will take part in this ultimate triathlon competing against 5 other investment banks. All helping to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

This is no easy challenge and months of exhausting training have gone into the preparation for this arduous event. The relay race comprises of a tough 87 mile run from London to Dover, 29 mile cross-Channel swim and 180 mile cycle ride from Calais to Paris.  Each team member contributes equally, taking turns during the run, swim and cycle with only brief gaps in between each discipline in which to recover.  One of the toughest challenges will be the swim from Dover to Calais - the water temperature is likely to be a chilly 15-18 degrees and no wetsuits are allowed!

Why? I hear you ask, would you do that?!?

For me the last two years has been an emotional journey. My mother-in-law is suffering from Alzheimer's, which is something which I struggle to cope with ...  yet alone my mother-in-law herself.

What I have figured out is what I can do about it ... which is this.

But I can't do it without your help.
