I have volunteered to join the team entered by HSBC for the Loire Challenge, which will mean the 4 of us raising money for charity (target £1,200) by cycling about 45 miles per day each over 3 consecutive days in France (25th - 27th September 2009).

Our chosen local charity is Willen Hospice, which provides free care to people with cancer and other life threatening conditions. Its running costs are £3.4m p.a., of which only 25% is funded by the NHS so sponsorship and donations are crucial.

I will be retiring on 9th October 2009 so I see representing the bank in this event as the perfect way to bring down the curtain on my 40 years career.
