Hello lovely people,

I’m running the Virgin London Marathon on April 22, 2012 and raising funds for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust (www.suzylamplughtrust.org), the UK’s pioneering personal safety charity.

It was founded by Suzy Lamplugh's parents, Paul and Diana. In 1986, their daughter, a 25-year-old estate agent, disappeared after she went to meet an unknown client. So far her body has not been found. However, she has been presumed murdered and legally declared dead.

Paul and Diana believed that Suzy, like most people at that time – and even now – was simply unaware of the possible dangers that individuals can face in society. The Trust highlights the risks people face, offering advice and support to minimise those risks.

It is a cause dear to my heart. I have four beautiful daughters of my own - Megan, Jemima, Nancy, Clementine - and their safety, well-being and happiness is everything to me.

Mum, Andrea, even runs a company, Safe Girl Security (www.safe-girl.co.uk), helping to highlight these issues, and selling safety alarms and gadgets to girls and young women.

Any support you can offer will go towards educating people - girls and boys - about the risks they face today and how they can reduce those risks.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust does not normally receive any support from the London marathon - one of the country's biggest fund raising events - so I am hoping that together we can all change that.

Thank you!
