Hi All,

Call me crazy but I’m about to start training for the London to Paris Bike Ride and need your help and especially your generosity to reach my combined goal of £5,000.00 for Help For Heroes (£2,500) and The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (£2,500).

Around 5am on May 5 2010, I’ll join a bunch of fellow fundraising nutters to cycle more than 300 miles from London to Paris in 4 days – this will be a personal challenge for me as apart from cycling to play football “sometimes” on a Friday night, the furthest distance I’ve ever cycled was from Edinburgh to Dunfermline when I was about 12 (many years ago)!!

The plan is as follows -

Day 1 is Blackheath to which is approximately 95 miles

Day 2 is to Abbeville which is approximately 75 miles

Day 3 is Abbeville to which is approximately 70 miles

Day 4 is to which is approximately 60 miles

The Cancer Centre

It seems everyone has a family member, or knows someone who has been touched by cancer. While I donate money on a monthly basis (which helps), I thought it was about time I did something more!

5 years ago my father was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, and the treatment and care he was given throughout by everyone in the centre but especially from the team in Ward 4 was something my mum, sister and I will never forget.

The Lothian Health Board Endowment Fund consists entirely of voluntary donations, and is used to improve the quality of patient amenities and staff welfare in Lothian by paying for the provision of 'extra' facilities and amenities, research and other opportunities not available from exchequer funding. The fund is made up of over 400 individual funds.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I appreciate any donation you can give which can be done by clicking on either of the links below and then following the step by step instructions to donate.

All costs for my participation in this event have been deducted from charity donations.

Many thanks,

Martin
