Story

This is a fantastic opportunity to do some good for very deserving causes and have some great fun in doing so. It will be my longest ride yet so I am going to invest in a new saddle & Jethro jokes to keep me comfy and my group in high spirits! This time my bike has a mini battery (just for the gears I may add and not the wheels!), I am sure I won’t have to top it up midway back in France though as I was clearly overcharged when I bought it :-)

We will start from the town of Malle, north east of Antwerp, Belgium and cycle the 300 miles back home.

80% of the funds raised will go towards the new St John’s Church Centre building. However, from the total amount, 20% will be donated to two very special local charities, namely St Michael’s Hospice, Basingstoke, which cares for terminally ill patients across North Hampshire, and The Matthew Elvidge Trust, committed to raising awareness of depression in young adults, working with charities and universities across UK.

I am meeting the cost to enter the event myself, so your entire sponsorship money will go directly to the charities.

Thank you so much for your interest and your support. There's a party at the new church centre building when we get back, on 26th August, so I hope to see you there!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

St John's Church is the parish church in the Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney. In April 2012, the church commenced the building of a new £2.3m Church Centre, which, when completed in June 2013, will provide new facilities for our church and wider community. Please help us to raise the final 20%.
