Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm not used to doing things for Charity other than donating to the big TV shows and bringing money in to work. However, this cause seemed to tick too many boxes to pass up on.
Mental Health is an issue that is exceptionally hard to talk about. I can't imagine many people know that I have struggled with issues surrounding it and even now, it's not something I am comfortable discussing. I wish I had looked into the services provided by mind when I was at my most vulnerable.
So I am fully behind the charity, but it helps that the event I am completing is something I'd like to do for far more selfish reasons! I started running around April when my brother and I started a Couch to 5K work out app. I enjoyed that and have been running and a social pace ever since. I am looking to up my running quota and Running Every Day in January seems to be the perfect opportunity to do that!
I run because it makes me feel better. I played rugby for 20 years and had to stop after a few too many hits to the head. As I'm a father of two young children and work full time, finding a replacement for rugby has been difficult. Running during my lunch break has got me somewhere near healthy again!
This challenge allows you to cover whatever distance you like everyday, but I am going to pledge to cover 3 miles a day, minimum (I say minimum because I usually finish running some distance away from work so I'm never accurate enough to stick to 3 miles!).
There will be lots of updates, and I'll try, where possible to run over different routes to offer a wee bit of variety!
