Story
On Sunday the 14th of June, a group of 20 office workers from the Basingstoke branch of Chase de Vere, who only ever really see daylight through the windscreen of a car, will embark on a 50 mile bike ride in the Hampshire countryside.
We are raising money to help support our dear friend and colleague, Martin Milsum. Martin was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last year at the age of 50, and since then both he and his family have been through and continue to experience the most terrible of events that anyone might imagine. Throughout this time, the Motor Neurone Disease Association have been a great source of support for Martin, and it is this charity that we would like to raise money so that they might continue to be able to do such an excellent job for people in similar circumstances.
So we have embarked on a training plan of sorts to get us all through this 50 mile ride. This is no small challenge for us. We are in the main novice cyclists. Some of us were barely out of stabilisers last time we were on a bike. Some have never owned a bike – after all, what call for a bike is there in a Zumba class….. Some of us who are more familiar with two wheeled transport prefer to wear leathers and a crash helmet. You get the picture.
Despite our obvious deficiencies, we are up for the challenge. We know that it will be tough, painful and emotional. But we also know that it will be so insignificant when you compare any suffering to so many others around us all.
Which is why this event is so important to us. To raise money for an amazing charity that does outstanding work to help those loved ones in our lives, when there is hardly anything left that you can do to support them yourselves.
Martin has experienced first hand the invaluable work of the MNDA and is thrilled that we are raising money for a charity that works so hard to understand how to fight this debilitating disease on every level. We hope that you will help us in this challenge by sponsoring us through the links on this page.
Thank you so much for your support. It really is appreciated.
