Bath Half Marathon 2010 · 7 March 2010 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Bath Half Marathon on March 7th 2010 and I have decided to run for The Stroke Association because my Nan (Anne Brine) suffered a stroke in 2003 and never recovered. She was an amazing woman who meant so much to me, she died before her time.

Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. Of all people who suffer from a stroke, about a third are likely to die within the first 10 days, about a third are likely to make a recovery within one month and about a third are likely to be left disabled and needing rehabilitation. A stroke has a greater disability impact than any other medical condition. A quarter of a million people are living with long-term disability as a result of a stroke in the UK.

The thought of running for my Nan and contributing to this worthy charity has spurred me on during many dark, cold and wet training runs.

Your donation will go towards the research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and will help stroke patients and their families.

Thank you so much for your contribution.
