DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. We fund pioneering research and provide care and support to individuals and families living with EB.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and hopefully taking time out to sponsor the team and me. My trike and I are gearing up to cycle the Ride100 around London following parts of the Olympic course and finishing on the Mall this coming August for a very worthy and close to my heart cause.

EB is a genetic skin blistering condition which currently affects about 5,000 people in this country including my young friends Grace and Freddie Fincham. I have seen first hand how debilitating this illness can be, and how important the support of Debra is to families living with this condition.

EB doesn't just affect the skin, in many cases the blistering affects internal body linings such as the mouth and oesophagus, sometimes resulting in malnutrition as the eating of solids is extremely difficult. People with the most severe types of EB are at a high risk of developing skin cancers, shortening lives by approx 30-40 years. In its most severe form the condition is fatal in infancy.

There is still no effective treatment or cure, although Debra is working hard supporting research to hopefully make this a reality in years to come.

So please dig deep and donate now.
