My son Ben was diagnosed with cancer when he was only 9 years old, just a few days before his 10th birthday. Our whole world fell apart! Cancer is something that happens to old people isn't it? Don't you believe it! Seeing the number of small children receiving painful chemotherapy, watching their hair fall out, being sick, crying - its heart breaking. Then you go back to hospital again and some of them aren't there anymore...

But with the right treatment and support lymphoma in children is treatable. Ben's been in remission for a while now, his hair has come back (a bit too thick if you ask me) and so its time for us to give something back for all the charitable support we've received. The doctors are amazing but its also the background support for the family that people don't see. Liverpool FC were great too, while Ben was being treated we were taken to Anfield in a VIP box and met Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle while we watched the derby, Liverpool V Everton.
