Story

Martin was 50 on 2nd January 2011!

To celebrate I entered the www.BeaujolaisRun.com to support some great charities. Have a look at that site to get the full story as it will be a celebration of Sixty Years of the Formula One World Championship.

So what I ask you to do rather than still send me all those presents for my 50th..........is give generously now via this site to meet my target of £2500.

Ben Spurr  joinined me as navigator.

John Surtees OBE, victor of seven motorcycle World Championships, one Formula One world drivers' title and the North American Can-Am Championship for sports cars will be central to the Run and its charitable aims. It is for his son Henry who sadly died last year racing at Brands Hatch that we raise money for Headway & RBF

Headway is committed to improving life after brain injury.

Acquired brain injury refers to any form of brain injury that has occurred since birth. This includes traumatic brain injury, which is the result of a severe blow or jolt to the head and is most commonly caused by road traffic incidents, falls and assaults. Other common causes of acquired brain injury are strokes, viral infections (e.g. encephalitis and meningitis) and brain tumours.

The Richard Burn’s Foundation (RBF)

The RBF wants to inspire and support active people whose lives are affected by serious illness and injury.  The RBF raises resources and awareness for projects that help active people of all ages in their fight against adversity – supporting projects aimed at care, prevention, and giving quality of life to people living with cancer and other illnesses/conditions that can have a severe impact on their life.

As a World Rally Champion, Richard used all his energy and focus to make his dreams come true. When diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 32, he used the same mental strength to fight his illness and live life to the fullest. The RBF is established to inspire and support people affected by similar conditions, in the memory of a good man and a brave champion.

We set out on 16th November from Brands Hatch flaged on the grid by Nigel Mansel then headed for France to bring back the Beaujolais.
