Story

Thank you for visiting my page for donating to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

I am running the New York Marathon on 7 November in memory of my good friend Niall MacLennan who died at only 30 years of age in November 2005.

Niall collapsed during a rugby match and was in a coma for a week before passing away. Niall was later diagnosed with having a rare and undetected heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) Syndrome.

Proper screening could have prevented this and similar terrible tragedies; however, at least twelve young people die in the UK alone every week from unidentified heart conditions.

CRY is an intensely practical charity. The goal of CRY is to work with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young by establishing good practice and screening facilities devoted to significantly reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death throughout the UK. Prevention has to be better than cure.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate to CRY. CRY will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 25% will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Your donation really means a lot to Niall's family, friends and CRY.
