Story

Hiya, my name is Lucie I am good friend to Oscars parents Mike and Gail and paddy's mum and Martyn's partner, I am writing this on behalf of the dad's to tell you our story and why they have decided to take upon this challenge,

Our boys were born very very early paddy at 25 weeks 4 days and Oscar at 25 weeks 3 days, you don't get much more premature than that! They arrived in style, two stubborn boys who couldn't wait, impatient paddy arrived the day before our wedding!!

Both boys were born at Whiston Hospital, Liverpool..   Paddy on the 21st November 2013  and oscar the 24th November 2013 and immediately, once they were stable  they were transferred to Liverpool women's hospital, and straight onto there neonate unit,  and that's were our journey and the story of our friendship with oscars parents began,  and were the struggle, tears and possibly the most terrifying time of our life.

Paddy spent 6 weeks in intensive care before he got transferred back to Whiston to an high dependency ward his birth weight was only 1lbs 14 he had breathing equipment and was covered in lines and monitors beeping every two seconds they tracking every noise his heart and lungs made I was terrified so scared to fall in love with my little boy..

Oscar spent 8 weeks in intensive care before he followed his best mate paddy back to the same high dependency ward at Whiston, oscars weight was 2lbs 1 and he also had breathing equipment and was also wired for sounds just like paddy, I can only image how they felt, my world was in bits, then after a couple of days at women's me and Martyn bumped into mike and Gail and I guess that's were all this began...

They were a huge support for me and Martyn and I hope to think we were to them also, and the reason they are doing this mammoth challenge is to say THANK YOU without the critical care the neonatal nurses and doctors gave to our boys they wouldn't of never of had the chance to come home, for a lack of a better sentence they saved them! And for that we will be forever grateful,

Both our boys are home now, after 103 ish days in hospital both giving us sleepless nights and driving us up the wall! But out of all of this a friendship has been made and a challenge has been set to complete the 3 peaks in 24 hours on the 9th September we will need your support so please give what you can to an amazing neonatal unit as without it I would be writing a different story..

Thank you all for reading
