We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

I will be taking part in the University of Sheffield's Big Walk 2018 on 22nd June. The 26-mile route starts from Lodge Moor and heads out into the Peak District, finishing on the University Campus.

The walk is to help raise funds for the Sheffield Scanner campaign so that an MRI-PET facility can be developed in Sheffield. This will be the first such scanner in Yorkshire. The campaign has raised £1.2 million so far towards the £2 million needed.

MRI-PET is the future of imaging research. The ability to perform this type of imaging is crucial for cutting edge medical research and will provide us with a real opportunity to bring about treatments for patients more rapidly. MRI-PET is the most powerful imaging technology currently available and this facility will transform our research by increasing our understanding of the causes, effects and development of many kinds of disease.

Please donate to this worthy cause and give me support and encouragement. I am looking forward to the challenge as I really enjoy walking, particularly in the Peak District, but this will be my longest walk and a marathon distance too!
