On 6th September I am going to run (or rather jog quite slowly) the Bristol half marathon to raise money for the Robert Ogden Centre in Leeds. Here's a little bit about what they do...
"...there are a vast array of therapies which can help patients and their families cope with cancer. Over 30 people a day use the centre, either by having a therapy session or coming along to one of the many support groups also held there..."We are a complementary therapy and support centre that runs alongside all the conventional medicines." There's a counsellor and they run courses, such as one on Living With Cancer. They're also the only Macmillan centre with two hair loss support workers..."
I know that these services can have a really big impact on someone's sense of wellbeing during difficult times and they also provide a wealth of information.
They are hoping to extend their service to some evening/weekend time for people who are unable to attend during the day. They are also hoping to pilot specialised services for children who have a family member who is suffering from cancer.
I would be extremely appreciative of any donation you are able to give. Thank you in advance for your support.
