Story

In May 2016, Mary Weastell, then Chief Executive of Selby District Council, promised the incoming Chairman, Cllr Stephanie Duckett, that she would ride in the Three Swans Sportive and all her sponsorship monies would go to Stephanie's chosen charities which are Asthma UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mary, now the Chief Executive at York City Council, is keeping her promise to Stephanie and will be attempting the 106 mile route on Sunday, Sept 4th which starts at Selby Abbey and is more than she has ever done before.

Cllr Duckett has very special reasons for supporting these two charities and these are her own words.

Asthma UK -
We lost our daughter Joanne to asthma 5 years ago.
She was 35 and a mother to 5 children aged 6 -16.
I performed CPR till the ambulance arrived but she couldn't be saved.

Macmillan Cancer Support -
Probably every person in our District knows someone affected by cancer.
Be it a friend or loved one, you can feel powerless to help.
But having the practical and emotional support of Macmillan staff can really help.
Both the patient and their families can get the support they need,
when they are least able to help themselves.

Can I ask that you give what you can for these two wonderful charities and support Mary in her attempt to conquer the 106 miles.
